New single: GOD OF DEATH!

BLACK SUN BROTHERHOOD are now releasing a brand spanking new singe: “God of death”! Three new powerful tunes from our second full-length album – currently in the making. On September 15th, the single will be available on all major digital platforms (Spotify, Tidal, Youtube, Apple Music etc)! It is a real monster of a single, we hope you freaks will love it to DEATH!!!

Below you find the lyrics and the singel cover! Cool eh?

God of death

There is only one god

And his name is death

For all – all life

It must come to an end

The old and the new

Everything comes to pass

And death is the only one

That will judge us all

Death is the king of this world

He breeds life to feed him

Cries of pain are music for his banquet

And now it’s time to feast

There is only one voice

Heard when all pass beyond

That is death telling you

Nothing can live forever

MEMENTO MORI

Black death – slow death

Total death – gaping grave awaits

Plague days – festering away

Minds warped and madness unbound

Apocalypse – destruction complete

Crusher, destroyer

Memento – memento mori

Almighty – god of death

Mankind ablaze with suffering

One and all – in a dance of death

No escape – death is king of life

Chaos reigns – masses face their doom

Crusher, destroyer

Memento, memento mori

Witches Rune

Darksome night – shining moon
Hearken to the witches’ rune.
East then south, west then north
Here come I to call thee forth

By the powers of land and sea
Be obedient unto me.
Wand, pentacle, and the sword
Hearken ye unto my word.

Cords and censor, scourge and knife
Waken all ye into life
Powers of the witches’ blade – come ye as the charge is made.

Queen of heaven, queen of hell
Send your aid into the spell.
Horned hunter of the night
Work my will by magic rite.

By the powers of land and sea
As I will, so mote it be
By the might of moon and sun
Chant the spell and be it done!

Cords and censor, scourge and knife
Waken all ye into life
Powers of the witches’ blade – come ye as the charge is made.

Illuminate – illuminate the world

Another VINYL update!

All hail motherfuckers!

Here is a quick status update on the vinyl release of our debut album “God & Beast”. We got the final shipment of vinyl’s on March 4th 2021, and then we set the official release date for the vinyl as 5th of March 2021. We then started shipping out all the pre-orders on Saturday 6th of March. Now, 3 days later less than half of the vinyl’s are left! What the fuck! So that is really cool – these are moving pretty fast! I mean, 150 vinyl’s sold in 3 days is quite a bit or what?

Anyway, we want to thank all of you folks who bought the album from us. Very cool! We really love all you twisted bastards! We hope you really enjoy the hell out of the vinyl version too! Also, big thanks to all the record stores, music distributors and web-shops who ordered copies of the record too. Mad cool for sure! Keep the underground ALIVE!!!

Extra special thanks must go to Stian “Occultus” Johansen, Klaus “Clouseau” Kobberstad and Woody Yundie over at Old House Records. Stian “Occultus” has an incredible network in the global metal underground, and he has helped us spread the album all over the world. We really appreciate that!

Also, here you can see more photos of what the album looks like; the different color versions, the inner sleeve and the biography included. We think it looks friggin dynamite ourselves! Note: ALL vinyl’s are numbered and signed by ALL band members! Very few copies left of the colored versions now, mostly black copies left. If you want to snag yourself a copy, get your shit together and let us know asap! We sell these babies on a “first come – first serve” basis.

Killer review of the new album… AGAIN!

Fuck yeah! Mad cool review by Slawek Migacz over at MONARCH MAGAZINE. Here goes:

Most of albums that I have heard from Norway are associated to black metal. Black Sun Brotherhood is more groove melodic death metal band on this particular record, but their lyrics are still quite dark and inspired by many topics such as mysticism, demons, angels… Also the band is very self-thinking about themes that they write about. Their views on many subjects are quite original.  I consider lyrics on this album being pushed forward and very open beyond doctrines. A singer of the band, Kristian Kjelsberg, has very natural, growling vocals. His barbaric voice sounds flawless along with the whole music that they prepared for this album.  If you follow the music of Tom Warrior, in song Leviathan, there are both musical and vocal-wise similarities to the pioneers of black metal, Triptykon.

God & Beast has averagely middle paced songs (Might is Right), most of them sound heavy and groovy but surely not the same.  They made some chants in the beginning of the album that sounds like a prayers of monks, in some church of misery. They have that extra boost to the sound that indicates the production of the record is very Scandinavian (Sol Invictus), occult style death metal (Witches’ Sabbath) where I can hear some familiar, musical vibes from the past times of death metal. There are 1 or 2 tracks which sound like melodic but crushingly heavy death metal, something what Dan Swano would do in times of Edge Of Sanity. Even if tracks of Black Sun Brotherhood remind me music of other bands from time to time, this album has musical and sound engineering freshness. A strong power riffs (Vengance is Mine)  delivered by guitarist Vegard Michalsen and drum dynamics played by Kim Alexander Lieberknecht are essential for the wild character of this album and musical alchemy (Black Sun Rising). They have the vocalist that every band would like to have in their hellish ranks. Brutal singing on this album goes with quality as I am able to easy understand words of the singer, who made his lyrical message sounds savagely and perfectly raw.

Music itself is superbly entertaining if involve some choruses, like in track Driven by Demons or Vengance Is Mine. Brutal and melodic riffs are in great symbiosis in their songs. Majority of music are simple written song, although weight of guitar riffs is like a stomping of some huge, extinct animal on your head. There is something about this album that constantly draws my attention to the music, as if the songs were enchanted in the magical circles of antiquity. I like simplistic approach to the songs by the band (Love is a Demon), their death metal has a pagan and occult feel when they perform chants, on the other hand, some orchestrated bits and pieces sound like taken from Alien 3 soundtrack (Great Whore of Babylon), which just says that for this band there are no boundaries that cannot be broken or shifted in a strange but creative ways. Many bands put the best songs in the beginning of their albums, but I think Litanies To Satan is so well written death metal track that even deserves to open this record.  A second half of the song is spiritually/vocally driven by the vocalist the way that music sound unholy (many other songs as well), which should satisfy black metal fans, also. It`s one of the best death groove albums of 2020.

Another very cool review of our debut album!

We got another very cool review of our debut album today. This one is from Gino Alache over at ROCKUM HARD ROCK & METAL. Gino is a “no-nonsense guy”, because it’s a short but sweet review. Very to the point – no fluff whatsoever! Thanks a lot Gino – we appreciate the kind words! Here goes:

The extreme black/death metal band BLACK SUN BROTHERHOOD has released their ambitious debut studio album titled GOD & BEAST via METAL BLAST RECORDS. The band is from the city of Sarpsborg in Norway, and they started with the BLACK SUN BROTHERHOOD band in 2013.

In my opinion, the album GOD & BEAST has killer melodies that seep into the brain. Traditional but fresh, cerebral but headbanging, raw but sophisticated. GOD & BEAST keeps the genre’s roots in an atmosphere of own creativity.

For that reason, GOD & BEAST is a wicked album with authentic songs and a superb killer production for a powerful debut album.

Killer review of our new album!

Banzai motherfuckers!

Cool review of the new album today from Tom Hanno over at TOM’S REVIEWS! Here goes:

I love it when bands surprise me with their sound; especially if I’m expecting something entirely different based upon their influences, genre, descriptions, or what have you. The most recent group to pleasantly surprise me is Sarpsborg, Norway’s BLACK SUN BROTHERHOOD , who came out swinging with their heavy new album, “God and Beast.”

Black Sun Brotherhood became a unit in 2013, mixing “old-school black punk with diabolical death metal”; this description led me to believe that this would be a very balls to the wall extreme metal offering. What I heard was still heavy enough to satisfy any metal head, but wasn’t full of insane blast beats and guitars so fast that you couldn’t distinguish one note from the next; I was immediately a fan from the first track onward.

The first song that I’d like to talk about is the fifth one, “Leviathan”, which is almost a doom song. This song is obviously my preferred track, with its slow tempo, and determined vocal attack. The end has a great dynamic approach that is accomplished by upping the speed and intensity of the music, this leaves us on a great vibe that really compliments the first part of this song.

Capitalizing on the strength of “Leviathan” is a very punk influenced tune called “Driven by Demons”; which is my second favorite track. This blast of riffing utilizes some nice dynamics, and has a lot of that crossover thrash metal feel that I mentioned earlier. That main riff is really badass, the vocals are raw and gnarly, not to mention how that driving drum beat really helps to power the track forward.

Moving back towards the beginning of the record we find the “Witches Sabbath”, a song that has the determined sound of Pagan witches chanting out their spells around a fire deep in the woods. As with “Driven by Demons”, this is a driving song, but has some added flair that really adds to the lyrical content and song name. I believe I heard some Latin in the lyrics, and the dark chant sections add the right atmosphere to this really cool tune.

What metal album is complete without at least one song with the word Satan in the title? Almost none, which brings us to “Hymn to Satan”. This track is another awesome example of the things that Black Sun Brotherhood is capable of; doomy riffs, melody, wicked vocals, black punk flavor, and elements of thrash, and is tied with “Leviathan” for my top track.

“Great Whore of Babylon” comes in as the second to last track on the record, but is in the top half of what I feel are the best tracks presented here. As with all these tunes, it’s full of everything we’ve already talked about, and it fits in with its brothers very well.

The band’s description of their music is apt, but I feel it leaves out that crossover thrash sound that I detect within the riffs. I know that I expected less melody and more brutality, but this has a ton of melody within the guitars and vocal lines; making the record all the better! No matter what perception any of us have over genre terms, this is a killer album, so get off your asses and find yourselves a copy!! Enjoy!!!
